The National Environment Registry (NER) www.neregistry.com.au is providing registry services to FEX Climate. FEX Climate has teamed up with the Water Exchange, which currently facilitate 70% of Australia’s regulated rural water trades, to develop the NER. The NER which currently registers water and carbon will provide a new level of product transparency and public accessibility to support the veracity of the C&E market. To receive further information about registering C&E product email fexclimate@fex.com.au

The NER helps to address the question of product transparency by requiring suppliers of carbon and environmental products to comply with the NER rules. The NER requires CE product be identified with the following information:

  • Type of product
  • Number of units
  • Poof of ownership for each unit
  • Vintage of units
  • Proof of verification of each unit by a recognised verifier and to a recognised standard
  • The identity and qualification of the recognised verifier and details of the recognised standard
  • Description of the process giving rise to the creation of the product
  • Whether each unit is active or retired
  • "accreditation identifier" e.g. code from the issuing authority if relevant

FEX Climate has evolved through identifying a need for an organisation in Australia and the broader Asia Pacific to join the dots between parties in the business of trading environmental commodities. FEX Climate is collaborating with companies and government bodies interested in building markets in the service of the environment.
